“There are two components to the project: the base of the structure, which mediates between the ground edge and the underground 125th Street fault line; and the tower, which mediates between the sky and the base. The curtain walls of the base are different on each side and are fabricated out of ore and bedrock from the site. Specific details from other structures are framed by windows and door thresholds. The openings in the tower frame specific limits of Manhattan: the water edge, the street edges, the skyline edge, etc.”
